Meredith Ewen (B. 1996), the artist behind Voices: Beyond the Walls, studies Studio Art & Art History at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Throughout her studies, Meredith utilizes her studio practice to investigate the complexities of healing after sexual trauma and the lineage of sexual violence and of cultures that leave survivors behind. With her work, Meredith hopes to challenge preexisting notions about ‘survivorship’ for both those who have experienced sexual violence and those who have not, understanding that embracing the complex parts of our truths and our healing journeys is vital for integrating our experiences into our lives.
In addition to her research and art practice, Meredith works as a Prevention and Programs Intern for the Rollins Office of Title IX, where she works to inform students about healthy relationships and consent in hopes of preventing further harm. Essential to her work in the office is the integration of creative means into educational experiences where students can use the creative process in executing agency over how they choose to engage in a culture of consent within their relationships.
